2 Tim. 3:1 But know this that in the last days perilous times will come: Perilous in the Strong's Concordance means - harsh, savage, difficult, dangerous, painful, fierce, grievous, hard to deal with. The word describes a society that is barren of virtue but abounding in vices. Here, the Apostle Paul is encouraging and exhorting Timothy to continue in the faith right in the midst of great evil and hardships. Know this, he says, know what? Know that these things are happening, but you have the ability to stand, persevere, overcome, and continue to be a bright light in a very dark world. How? v. 14 says to CONTINUE in the things you have learned...Brothers and Sisters, if this was good advice for Timothy in the midst of what he faced, it is good advice for you and I. We must continue in the faith!
