Heb. 4:2 For indeed the gospel was preached to us as well as to them, but the Word which they heard did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in those who heard it. Hearing the gospel and believing what you've heard are two different components necessary for the Word of God to profit your life. Many times we hear with our natural ear, but we allow it to slip by us because we do not lay hold of it with our spiritual ear. In order for God's Word to profit us there is a sequence to our hearing. 1) Give heed to what you hear. 2) Receive by declaring, "That's mine I have it now!" 3) Believe that it shall come to pass 4) Expect for the manifestation of that which you are believing for 5) Keep your expectancy stirred up by speaking the Word over it, keep it before your eyes, and thank God that it is so. Our faith takes these components and mixes, and stirs, and declares until we see the end result.
